What is SASE?

The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, or, SASE, for short, at UCSD is a pre-professional organization dedicated to promoting professional development and preparing undergraduates for their futures, whether it be graduate school, research in a lab, an engineer, or anything in-between. We help students by organizing professional events and workshops, such as our annual networking event Dining with Professionals, resume workshops, and more.

SASE's Mission Statements:

  • To prepare Asian heritage scientists and engineers for success in the global business world
  • To celebrate diversity on campuses and in the workplace
  • To provide opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities

Achievements

  • Host of West Regional Conference in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2022 where more than 200 students from SASE chapters in the west coast attended. We had some of the world's top universities attend, such as UC Berkeley, UCLA, and University of Washington.
  • Host of Dining with Professionals almost every year since 2011, expanding from 30 student attendees and 5 professionals in 2011 to almost 80 student attendees over 20 professionals in 2020. 
  • Became an official member of the engineering diversity organizations on campus in 2020
  • Have been sponsored by well-known companies, such as BASF, Booz-Allen Hamilton, Northrup Grumman, and more
